This document also contains information for the installation of the system files used in the program and for the installation of The Atomic Ladies screensaver. ================================================== CONTENT 1. User Manual ================================================== 1. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS 1.1. System This program only works with Windows95, Windows98 and WindowsNT. QuickTime version 2.5 should be installed to enjoy the movies of the CD-ROM. They won't work if you only have installed a newer version of QuickTime (version 3.0 or higher). QuickTime 2.1.2 is included on this CD-ROM in a folder called "QuickTime". It can coexist next to a newer version of QuickTime. Elsewhere in this document you will find notes on the installation. 1.2. Screen This program will work correctly in a number of screen formats and color depths. However, this program is best viewed on a screen format of 640x480 pixels with a minimal color depth of thousands of colors (16-bit color). To change the format of your screen, do the following: - Click on "Start" (in the taskbar). - Go to "Settings" and click on "Control Panel". - Double click on "Display". - Go to the tab "Settings" and change your "Desktop area" to 640x480. To change the color depth of your screen, do the following: - Click on "Start" (in the taskbar). - Go to "Settings" and click on "Control Panel". - Double click on "Display". - Go to the tab "Settings". - Change "Color palette" to thousands of colors (16-bit color) or higher to use "World of Tattoo" to its full extent. 1.3. Sound In order to make full use of the sound possibilities of the program you should have installed a Windows compatible soundcard. Please refer to the manual of your sound system for correct installation. 1.4. Memory (RAM) The minimal amount of installed memory should be 16 MB RAM. 1.5. CD-ROM This program is best viewed on a system with a quad (4x) speed or faster CD-ROM drive. For best results, maximize the cache size of your CD-ROM drive. To do this, follow the following instructions: - Click on "Start" (in the taskbar). - Go to "Settings" and click on "System". - Select the tab "Performance". - Press the File System" button. - Select the tab "CD-ROM". - Slide the ruler to the far right. 2. INSTALLATION NOTES FOR QUICKTIME SYSTEM FILES QuickTime 2.1.2 is included on this CD-ROM in a folder called "quicktime". It can coexist next to a newer version of QuickTime. To install QuickTime with Explorer: - Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive. - Run the Explorer. - Select the CD-ROM drive (usually d: or e:). - Go to the folder "quicktime". - Double-click on the icon "Qt32inst". - Follow the instructions of the program. - QuickTime will install itself. To install QuickTime: - Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive. - Select "Run..." from the "Start" button. - Type "d:\quicktime\Qt32inst.exe" at the prompt and press Enter, where "d:" is your CD-ROM drive (usually d: or e:). - Follow the instructions of the program. - QuickTime will install itself. 3. INSTALLATION NOTES FOR THE SCREENSAVER Screen saver "The Atomic Ladies". To install the screen saver on your computer with Explorer: - Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive. - Run the Explorer. - Go to the CD-ROM drive (usually d: or e:). - Double-click on the icon "Atomics". - The screen saver will install itself. To install the screen saver on your computer: - Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive. - Select "Run..." from the "Start" button. - Type "d:\ atomics.exe" at the prompt and press Enter, where "d:" is your CD-ROM drive (usually d: or e:). - The screen saver will install itself. To preview or change the preferences of the screen saver, follow this procedure: - Click on "Start" (in the taskbar). - Go to "Settings" and click on "Control Panel". - Double click on "Display". - Go to the tab "Screen Saver". - If the screen saver "atomics.exe" isn't already chosen, choose it from the menu. Click on preview to watch it. 4. FUNCTIONALITY To start the program with Explorer: - Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive. - Run the Explorer. - Go to the CD-ROM drive (usually d: or e:). - Double-click on the icon "start". To start the program: - Insert the CD-ROM in your CD-ROM drive. - Select "Run..." from the "Start" button. - Type "d:\start.exe" at the prompt and press - Enter, where "d:" is your CD-ROM drive - (usually d: or e:). 5. MANUAL Using the World of Tattoo (This document is also available within the program.) After finishing the introduction (you can skip the introduction by clicking) you will enter the main menu. In the main menu, you have several options, which will highlight when you place your cursor over it. - Select a (sub) category in the main menu by clicking on it. - Select a sound level at the above left corner (one of the five graphic items; leftmost is no sound) - For on screen help, click on the crowned scull at the bottom left corner. Category screens In the category screens you have several new options, which will highlight when you place your cursor over them. When you move your cursor to the top or the bottom of the screen, you will find new options in the menu. Automatic scrolling Place the cursor over the word "AUTO" on the top right of your screen. When the word "AUTO" is highlighted, all the pictures in the selected category will automatically pass. You do not have to click. An alternative way of viewing the pictures is to move your mouse to the right or to the left of the screen. The cursor will change into an arrow pointing to the right or left. Then push the left mouse button and the next picture will be selected. The scroll bar At the bottom of the screen, you will find the thumbnail pictures. Move your mouse to the right or to the left of the scrollbar and you can scroll through the pictures. Select a picture by clicking on it. Your selection It is possible to gather pictures from different categories and place them in your own selection at the top of your screen. This selection will be saved on your hard disk and will be accessible when you are using the World of Tattoo again. Fast select In the bottom line of the screen, some categories have fast select buttons for other (sub) categories. Buttons: Add Adds any selected picture to your selection Print Clicking the print option will print any selected picture. Erase Removes any selected picture from your selection Noise level Changes the sound level. Main menu Brings you back to the main menu. Auto Makes the category run automatically. Quit Quits the program.
